John started his working life as a teacher before entering the insurance field in 1972. He founded the insurance brokerage in 1975, and the life business of this company was then incorporated in 1986 into Trustee Asset Management Ltd. John was appointed Managing Director of the new company, and in 1992 was appointed as Chairman. In 2005 John retired from providing investment advice but remains involved with the company.
